Oronde McClain | BIO

Oronde McClain is a gun violence survivor, advocate, motivational speaker, media consultant, and mentor who has dedicated the past 20 years to supporting victims and advancing ethical, empathetic media reporting on gun violence. As the Director of Survivor Connection at the Philadelphia Center for Gun Violence Reporting, he works to bridge the gap between communities and journalists, ensuring accurate, impactful storytelling that drives meaningful change.
Previously, Oronde served as a Credible Messenger Newsroom Liaison, where he helped connect community members with media professionals to improve the quality of gun violence reporting.
Beyond his advocacy, Oronde is the award-winning author of P.T.S.D Won’t Define Me and co-producer of the documentary They Don’t Care About Us, or Do They? His work has been featured in CNN, NBC, WHYY, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Daily News, solidifying his reputation as a trusted voice in gun violence prevention and survivor support.
