Deion Sumpter is a dedicated public servant and advocate for violence prevention, with a strong commitment to improving the safety and well-being of communities in Philadelphia. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Deion has a deep understanding of the challenges facing urban neighborhoods and a personal investment in making positive change. He previously served as the Director of the Group Violence Intervention (GVI) strategy for the City of Philadelphia, where he aimed at reducing group-related violent crime. Currently, Deion serves as the Deputy Director of Violence Prevention Initiatives for the City's Office of Safe Neighborhoods, overseeing all city-based violence prevention programs and strategies. In this capacity, he is responsible for coordinating efforts across various city departments, organizations, and community groups to address the root causes of violence and reduce its impact on vulnerable populations. With his extensive experience in the public sector and deep roots in his hometown, Deion Sumpter remains a strong advocate for effective, evidence-based approaches to reducing gun violence and building safer, healthier communities in Philadelphia.
